From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—used the foes for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.
